DSR Coaching and Officiating Consultant Jacqui Jashari said the High Performance Officiating Scholarships were open to those who were, or had the potential to be, high performance officials.
"Individuals can apply for funding of up to $10,000 each and successful applicants participate in the Officiating Excellence Program," she said.
"Potential development opportunities can include completion of higher level accredited official courses, interstate and international travel to conferences and seminars, mentorship or management and communication courses and travel to state, national and international competitions to gain coaching and practical experience."
Ms Jashari said there was a high demand for officials in all sports, and that it was vital for officials to be equipped to perform their role.
"Officials play a key role in ensuring fairness in sport, and their role is just as important to sport as the athletes and games they officiate," she said. "By investing in the development of officials the department is also investing in the overall quality of sport and recreation into the future."
