I'm Terry Waldron, your new sports Minister. Please call me 'Tuck', everyone does and perhaps I'll get the opportunity to let you know about that as I move around the State in the next few months.

I look forward to working with the sport and recreation sector, which
plays an enormous part in the lives of almost all Western Australians. As someone who comes from a sporting and country background, I highly value teamwork. I am also passionate about the way sport and recreation contributes to building stronger, healthier, happier and safer communities across many areas, including improving our health and improving educational outcomes.
While I'm aware of the benefits, I'm also aware of the problems facing clubs; particularly with regard to volunteers, the coaches and officials, who are the lifeblood of any organisation. Other issues include the maintenance and development of facilities.
I'll be moving around the State in the next few months, listening to people, trying to gauge how the government can work with communities, organisations and clubs to further enhance our lives through sport and recreation.
I look forward to hopefully meeting with you.
Yours in sport,
Terry 'Tuck' Waldron
