The Department of Sport and Recreation has rolled its Champions to the Region (CTR) funding scheme into its Country Sport Enrichment Scheme (CSES) in a bid to make applying for funding a clearer and easier process for applicants.

The total pot of money available has also been increased by $100,000 bringing the new total allocation under the CSES to $375,000.
A combined total of $275,000 had previously been offered through the two schemes – $225,000 under the CSES and $50,000 under the CTR.
"The main reason the schemes have been rolled into one is to make it simpler for applicants," said DSR Project Officer Organisational Performance Peter Minchin.
"The desired outcomes from both programs were essentially the same and applicants found it difficult to differentiate between the two schemes and were sometimes applying for funding from both programs for the same project."
The aim of the Country Sport Enrichment Scheme is to help country Western Australia experience and conduct major sporting events and sport development initiatives.
