The National Outdoor Leaders Registration Scheme (NOLRS) is a scheme that registers outdoor leaders whose skills, experience and qualifications in the outdoors are the equivalent to industry standard. NOLRS is not a qualification.

The NOLRS provides a quick and easy method of identifying people who are committed to providing quality outdoor experiences, conducting outdoor activities with safe and environmentally sustainable practices.

The NOLRS has been developed following consultation with members and representatives of the outdoor recreation, outdoor education and outdoor adventure activity industry.

The NOLRS has been active for over five years.

Fast track NOLRS climbing guide!

The Industry Standards Panel has approved that skilled and experienced outdoor leaders currently registered as Single Pitch Abseiling Guides, and wish to become registered as single pitch climbing guides, can do so in accordance with the following criteria.

Criteria:

  • Current NOLRS registration for Single Pitch Abseiling Guide (natural).
  • Log book evidence of a minimum of 120 logged hours over the past three years of guiding climbing sessions at a natural site.
  • Letter from a recent employer/manager who holds this qualification verifying logged hours.

Once evidence has been validated, the NOLRS single pitch climbing guide registration will be added to your current registration.

The registration fees for this subsequent registration shall be $55 (members) and $77 (non-members). This is valid until 31 December 2009.

Multi-pitch registration opportunities

The Industry Standards Panel has approved Wilyabrup as a suitable site for outdoor leaders to log hours required to meet registration requirements for multi pitch abseiling.

This followed an enquiry by Outdoors WA about the lack of multi-pitch abseiling venues and programs to maintain sufficient log book requirements.
