Sport and Recreation Career Pathways Program
The Sport and Recreation Career Pathways Program gives participants an increased understanding of the industry and develops skills that will increase their capacity to work within the sport and recreation industry. Participants are selected into the program through an application process.
Calling all future industry leaders
The Career Pathways Program has two sub categories:
Student Futures package
Offered to six students each semester enrolled in a certificate III or IV, or tertiary level sport or recreation related course. Selected students are performing well in their studies and are genuinely interested in gaining employment in the sport and recreation industry.
Participants receive the following package:
- Attendance at a specialised industry networking event with representatives from sport and recreation organisations.
- Professional development workshops.
- Assistance to complete training and development activities/courses relevant to their personal professional development needs.
- An official certificate of recognition.
Participants are also required to undertake a volunteer project within the industry of at least 20 hours over their 6 month program period.

Applications for the Semester One intake of the
Student Futures package are now open. Applications close 4pm 16 March 2012.
Emerging Professionals package
Offered to a maximum of 10 employees who are working in the sport and recreation industry with a maximum of five years full time experience, hold a reasonable level of industry knowledge and display the potential to be a future leader.
Recipients receive the following package:
- Attendance at a specialised industry networking event with representatives from sport and recreation organisations.
- Professional development workshops on a varyiety of topics.
- Assistance to complete training and development activities/courses relevant to their personal professional development needs.
- Attendance at an industry conference.
- A mentor for the duration of the program.
- An official certificate of recognition.
Participants are also required to:
- undertake a volunteer project within the industry of at least 40 hours over their 10 month program period and
- prepare a short report and presentation on their volunteering experiences.
