Ashleigh Davis – Ern Halliday Recreation Camp
Ashleigh Davis has always been interested in sport - netball, swimming and triathlons. Ashleigh played netball all through primary and high school and started swimming competitively with the arena swim club in 2000.
It was during high school that Ashleigh realised she wanted a career that involved sport and recreation. In year 11 she was asked if she wanted to apply for a school-based traineeship with the Ern Halliday Recreation Camp. At the conclusion of her 18-month traineeship with DSR, Ashleigh went on to work with Christ Church Grammar School at their private Outdoor Education Site in Dwellingup. At the start of 2008 Ashleigh commenced a double degree in Sport Science and Sport Management. Inspirational aspects of your career
Ashleigh believes working in an environment that promotes a healthy and active lifestyle is highly inspiring. Her clients are encouraged and given the opportunity to be active, have fun and achieve something they initially thought was unachievable.Defining moments
A defining moment was beach supervision for the camp quality kids. Ashleigh recalls how happy the kids were and how much fun they were having. Any program that she can work on where clients push themselves to do something they didn’t think they could do is always a special moment for Ashleigh.Influential people
Everyone she’s met through DSR, Christ Church and University have been passionate about what they do. She has been lucky to see the industry from a number of aspects with a wide range of mentors. They all encourage others and themselves to enjoy what they are doing and push them to the next level.Future ambitions
Working somewhere within the Sport and Recreation industry, whether it’s in a management role or out in the field. As long as she is inspiring others and promoting sport she will be happy.
Ashleigh's Tips:
