The role of the official is a complex one that requires a range of skills and techniques to ensure they are performing at their optimum level. The modern day official needs to be as physically fit as the participants, as intellectually astute as the game’s best tacticians (players, coaches and administrators) and above reproach from a moral standpoint.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to gain insight into how a National Referee Panel deals with issues relating to being an official from physical preparation, to developing game understanding and conducting performance analysis, through to discussions on the conduct of officials when representing their sport or their country.

The workshop will examine the key role of communication in being an official and how officials can learn to better interact with participants and coaches. This will be an excellent opportunity to gain some ideas as well as interacting with other officials to challenge and learn from each other.
