The Community Participation Funding scheme provides small grants of up to $5000 for projects that target low participation groups, particularly culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) and indigenous populations.
The Community Participation Funding was launched in April 2009. Since this time, the department has been inundated with hundreds of enquiries from the community, with more being received daily.
Positive feedback has been received from a variety of community groups, complimenting the format and targeted nature of the funding for community-level initiatives.
To date, DSR has funded a variety projects through the scheme, comprising both regional and metropolitan projects, all of which target low participation groups such as Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) populations.
Successful grants
To be eligible for the funding, projects must:
- increase participation in physical activity; and/or
- enhance the development of sport and recreation personnel.
Grants are available sport and recreation organisations/clubs and not-for-profit community organisations to implement safe and innovative projects.
The funding is open all year round, and grants are limited to between $1000 and
$5000.
Guidelines and application form
DSR has officers available to assist with applications in all regions.
