AFL team for young migrants and refugees

The Edmund Rice Centre in Mirrabooka is looking for young migrants and refugees aged 18–13 years old to join a new AFL football team – the Edmund Rice Centre Lions.

Football.The team will consist wholly of people who have come to Australia from another country to live, and will train for six weeks before playing a match against a local football team from the Subiaco Football District on Sunday 11 April 2010.

Talented footballers will be offered further opportunities to develop their talent.

If you think you could be the next Nic Naitanui or just want to have a go, then don't miss your chance to be part of this team.

Registrations will be taken at a barbecue event at the Herb Graham Recreation Centre on Chesterfield Road, Mirrabooka on 13 February 2010 between 11am and 2pm.

The National Wheelchair Basketball Development League (NWBDL) played its inaugural round last weekend (5–7 March) at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. The weekend was highlighted by a number of hard-fought games, with no matches having a final margin over 10 points.
